Watch: MS Dhoni celebrates friend’s birthday in viral video

Former Indian skipper MS Dhoni was spotted celebrating a friend’s birthday in a video that has gone viral. Subodh Singh Kushwaha, a fan of MS Dhoni, posted a video of the legendary cricketer enjoying the cake-cutting celebrations on his Instagram account on Saturday with the caption “MS Dhoni sir celebrating friends birthday.”

The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have retained MS Dhoni ahead of the IPL 2024 auction, assuring his participation in the upcoming season. The 42-year-old underwent successful knee surgery after guiding Chennai Super Kings to a record-tying fifth IPL title win last season, with a thrilling last-ball victory over the Gujarat Titans (GT).

Kasi Viswanathan, CEO of Chennai Super Kings, expressed confidence that MS Dhoni will follow his pledge and play in the IPL 2024. Despite being 42 and battling with a knee injury for the majority of last season, the CSK captain told fans that he would try to play at least one more season.

“If our leader has given a word, he has never gone back. He already told me what he was planning to do in that interview. I am sure that knowing MS, he will always do what he has committed to do. He is quite fit. Thalaivan is thalaivan (our leader is our leader),” Kasi said in a video shared by CSK.

CSK released Ben Stokes and a few others after the talismanic all-rounder declared himself unavailable for the forthcoming season. The franchise now has a purse of 31.4 crore ahead of the 2024 IPL auction. They now share five IPL titles with the Mumbai Indians and have qualified for the playoffs in all but two of the 14 seasons they have played. CSK has also won the IPL in three of the last six seasons.
