KKR or SRH? Aussie legend Matthew Hayden picks the winner of IPL 2024

[ad_1]

The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 has reached its climactic stage with two teams in contention for the prestigious trophy. Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) are all set to face each other in the all-important final of the tournament at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Sunday, May 26.

Matthew Hayden names his pick

With the ultimate winner of the 17th season will be decided soon, cricket experts have begun sharing their predictions. Former Australian opener Matthew Hayden has revealed his pick for the title. Hayden picked a team that has a strong spin department and have performed exceptionally well throughout the competition.

Hayden expressed strong confidence in the Knight Riders clinching the trophy. His prediction hinged on several key factors. Firstly, he emphasized the advantage KKR has gained from a brief respite, allowing them to rest and strategize while observing SRH’s gameplay. This period of preparation is crucial in understanding the opposition’s strengths and weaknesses.

“I’m very confident that KKR are going to win here, as having a few days off, having the ability to watch this match, and understanding what the strengths and weaknesses of Sunrisers Hyderabad are will be helpful,” said Hayden on Star Sports.

Psychological edge plays a key role

Secondly, Hayden pointed out the psychological edge KKR hold from their previous victory over SRH, which can significantly boost their confidence and momentum going into the final. Lastly, he highlighted the critical role of KKR’s spin bowlers, Sunil Narine and Varun Chakaravarthy.

Notably, the pitch conditions at MA Chidambaram Stadium, known for favoring spinners due to its red clay surface, are likely to enhance their effectiveness, potentially tipping the scales in KKR’s favor.

“KKR, having defeated SRH, is going to have great momentum. I also just feel that the quality spin of Narine and Varun Chakaravarthy on the red clay is going to make a difference,” added Hayden.
