Pat Cummins overconfident? Sunrisers Hyderabad make questionable move ahead of blockbuster IPL 2024 final

[ad_1]

The Sunrisers Hyderabad have decided to skip their only training sessions ahead of the finale of IPL 2024 which will see them clash against Kolkata Knight Riders.

The Orange Army’s ticket to finals was confirmed yesterday after they defeated the Rajasthan Royals by 36 runs at the MA Chidambaram stadium. The qualifier 2 match was really a nail-biting contest wherein Sanju Samson’s side had the upper hand but Pat Cummins’ men eventually prevailed against all odds.

IPL 2024 finale will be a replay of the 1st Qualifier match of this season. In their only two meetings in the league this season, the Knight Riders have come out on top on both occasions. In the qualifier match, KKR had in fact defeated SRH in a one-sided affair. It will be interesting to see how the two teams play against each other at the ultimate stage.

Why have SRH skipper their training session?

The Sunrisers Hyderabad have decided to skip their only net session before the final to have a rest day after the extremely hectic league and play-off stages. SRH played a lot of games in the last week and due to the heat and humidity in the city, the team management wants the players to take some valuable time off, as per reports in HT.

It means that SRH will only be sharpening themselves in the morning of the finale and during the warm-up session before the match in the evening. This is not only being done to manage the players’ workload but also to make sure the players enter the most important fixture of the tournament. with a fresh mind.

SRH’s decision to not opt for the training sessions also speaks volumes about the confidence the team has in themselves. Pat Cummins has really instilled a solid mindset within the team and they seem ready to challenge for the title. Yesterday’s win marked the first time that Hyderabad reached an IPL final since the 2018 season.

It took the franchise 6 seasons to reach the finale and they will be aiming to return with a title.

While the SRH skipped their training session today, the Kolkata Knight Riders are reportedly going to put in extra hours in the net sessions. The Shreyas Iyer-led side did not only train on Friday but they are also in line to have a 3-hour net session from 6-9 PM.

The team, which is mentored by Gautam Gambhir, does not want to leave any stone unturned in their preparation for the ultimate match. After all, it will be the first time that GG has reached the final as the mentor of a team. He has the chance of becoming the first person to win the tournament as a player and as a mentor.

Everything will be clear tomorrow at the MA Chidambaram stadium. Will the Orange Army get their hands on their 2nd IPL title or will the Knight Riders become the 3rd outfit in the competition to claim 3 titles?
