World Cup 2023: Suryakumar Yadav turns cameraman, interviews Mumbai locals in disguise ahead of IND vs SL

India batter Suryakumar Yadav donned a disguise and turned camera-man for the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) ahead of India’s match against Sri Lanka. Yadav put on a full shirt to hide his tattoos, put on a mask and a hat and went out to the marine drive to interact with some cricket fans ahead of their group stage game in Mumbai on Thursday, 2 November.

Yadav, unrecognisable in his attire, asked fans about the Indian team and how they were playing. Several spoke about their favourite cricketers, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Jasprit Bumrah and said that the Indian team had been in riveting touch in the tournament. Disappointed that his name had not come up, Yadav asked fans about himself and received some interesting answers.

One of the fans spoke to Suryakumar Yadav about his own batting and hoped to see him a little higher in the order. The fan said that he was no one to comment on how he bats but hoped to see him do well.

Another fan said that it was a joy to watch Surya bat and use his wrist to best effect. At this point Surya proceeded to remove his mask and reveal his identity, leaving the fan shocked. Yadav clicked pictures with the fans and then called it a day as the cameraman.

The India batter did well in the team’s last group stage game against England. At a time when India’s top order collapsed, Suryakumar Yadav scored a gritty 49 off 47 balls to take India to a 200+ total in Lucknow. This gave India a little bit of runs to defend, which eventually helped them to register a 100-run win.

India at the moment are the only undefeated side in the tournament and will be facing Sri Lanka on Thursday, in their 7th group stage game.
