Wasim Akram wants new Pakistan management to stick to your decision: Don’t do press conferences every 3 minutes

Pakistan are set to play a 3-match Test series against Australia, starting on 14 December. Pakistan have a steep challenge ahead of them, having never won a Test series in the Australian continent.

The cricket team and the Pakistan Cricket Board has seen a lot of drama after their group-stage exit from the World Cup 2023. The entire PCB and the team management have been rehauled and younger people have been put in place.

Legendary Pakistan cricketer Wasim Akram has wished the young members of the Pakistan Cricket Board his best and has said that they should stick by their decisions. Akram posted a video on Twitter stating that he hopes that the likes of Wahab Riaz, Kamran Akmal and others do well at their positions.

“Pakistan team has reached Australia and I wish them all the best for the Test series. Mohammad Hafeez has joined the Pakistan Cricket Board as team director and Wahab Riaz has taken over as chief selector, Kamran Akmal and all others,” Akram said in the video.

Akram took a cheeky dig at Wahab Riaz, saying that he should not be holding a press conference every 3 minutes and should stick by the decisions that they were making.

“These are present cricketers. This is their time and let’s give them at least one year to prove themselves. And one more advice, don’t hold press conferences every three minutes. Stick to your decisions and be brave,” Wasim said.

Akram’s comments come after Wahab Riaz called a press conference to clarify his position on the appointment and the subsequent sacking of Salman Butt as the selection consultant following backlash in the public.

“Salman Butt isn’t on any PCB panel. For me, he is a good cricketing mind who understands cricket and has been covering domestic cricket for the past 2-3 years. He was made my consultant just to get his opinion, based on which some media houses and people started doing propaganda,” Wahab was quoted as saying in a press conference.

“As a chief selector, it’s my decision as to who will work with me and whose support I need. But people started discussing nepotism and dosti, due to which I am reverting this decision. I have already spoken to Salman Butt and told him that he cannot be a part of my team,” he added.
