India National Cricket Team head coach Rahul Dravid is unlikely to renew his contract with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), which ended after World Cupp 2023, and he is set to be replaced by the National Cricket Academy (NCA) head VVS Laxman as head coach, according to Sports Tak.

Rahul Dravid’s stint with Team India wasn’t a memorable one as India failed to win any ICC trophies, despite competing in the ICC T20 World Cup, ICC World Cup Championship Final, and ICC ODI World Cup.

Dravid was very close to finishing up as a head coach on a high as Team India dominated in the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 and entered the summit clash with 10 wins on the trot. However, they faced a heartbreaking loss at the hands of Australia in the final and their wait for the ICC Trophy continued.

As Rahul Dravid’s journey with India National Cricket Team comes to an end he is expected to re-enter the Indian Premier League (IPL) and become a mentor of a team.

Rahul Dravid To Join LSG As Mentor

According to the same report, Rahul Dravid is likely to join Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) as a mentor ahead of the upcoming season of the league. The position of mentor at LSG has been vacant since Gautam Gambhir left for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) a few days back.

Meanwhile, VVS Laxman has served as the head coach of the India National Cricket Team numerous times whenever Rahul Dravid was rested and now, he is expected to take over the role on a permanent basis with Dravid’s departure.

A source told Sports Tak that the batting great Dravid isn’t keen to continue as head coach of Team India and is already in talks with the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) for the role of mentor.

Also, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) officials will meet Rohit Sharma, coaches, and chief selector Ajit Agarkar on December 2 and 3 to make a decision on the future of the Team India.

“There’s is a meeting to be scheduled to discuss all this soon everyone will be called to discuss the future of coaching and the team as well,” the source revealed to Sports Tak.
