Updated Standings, Most Runs, Most Wickets After NED vs SL Match 19 & ENG vs SA Match 20

The ICC World Cup 2023 was host to two games on Saturday (21st October). NED vs SL, which was also the 19th match of the tournament, took place at Ekana Stadium in Lucknow whereas match 20th ENG vs SA was played at iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
The first game in NED vs SL was won by Sri Lanka but the Netherlands put up a great fight and made sure that they don’t give away things easily. The Dutch side opted to bat first and had a bizarre start with the bat as they were left tottering at 91/6. It seemed that they would get out early but things took a drastic turn.
Logan Van Beek (59) and Sybrand Engelbrecht (70) held the fort for the team and brought the Netherlands back into the game. They smashed vital half-centuries and added 130 runs partnership. Thanks to their partnership, Dutch ended with 262 runs. For Sri Lanka, Dilshan Madushanka and Kasun Rajitha were the pick of the bowlers with four wickets each to their name.
With the bat then, Sri Lanka came under pressure as they lost Kusal Perera (5) and Kusal Mendis (11) early. But fifty from Pathum Nissanka (54) made sure that they didn’t lose wickets in clusters. Sadeera Samarawickrama (91*) then carried his bat throughout and along with Charith Asalanka (44) put the Netherlands under pressure.
Dhananjaya de Silva (30) chipped in the end as well and Sri Lanka completed a comfortable 5-wicket win. This was their first win of the ICC World Cup 2023. For the Netherlands, Aryan Dutt was the pick of the bowlers with his figures of 3/44.
Coming to the second game, South Africa were asked to bat first and they put on a great show with the bat. Reeza Hendricks (85) and Rassie van der Dussen (60 gave them a great start with the bat despite losing Quinton de Kock (4) early. Aiden Markram (42) chipped in as well but the real blitz came from Henrich Klaasen.
Klaasen (109) smashed a brutal century and was supported well by Marco Jansen (75*). They added 151 runs in quick time and made sure that they put the defending champions under pressure. The partnership powered South Africa to a total of 399 runs. For England, Reece Topley picked three wickets whereas Adil Rashid and Gus Atkinson also bagged two wickets each.
With the ball, South Africa pacers were all over the England batters. They bowled great lines and lengths and didn’t let the opposition settle. The defending champions were tottering at 68/6 with all the specialist batters back in the hut. Mark Wood (43*) and Gus Atkinson (35) entertained the crowd with their hitting.
But South Africa managed to get them as well. They bundled out England for 170 runs and won the game by a margin of 229 runs. Gerald Coetzee picked three wickets whereas Lungi Ngidi and Marco Jansen picked two wickets each.

After NED vs SL Match 19 & ENG vs SA Match 20, New Zealand and India continued donning the top two spots with staggering NRRs of +1.923.1 and +1.659 respectively. South Africa after their massive 229 runs win retained the third spot and have a massive NRR of +2.12. Pakistan are fourth on the table. England slipped down to 9 behind Sri Lanka, who are 8th. The Netherlands are 7th on the table.
