[ad_1]

Arshdeep Singh was not only a hero for India in the final T20I against Australia but he became a villain for umpire Virender Sharma. The match official was hit on his thigh during the dead rubber game at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

During the 5th ball of the last over, Arshdeep Singh bowled a full delivery, to which Nathan Ellis drilled hard. The fast bowler stuck his right hand out and the ball deflected to get slow. And then the ball went on to hit the umpire on his thigh.

Here’s the video:

Coming to the match, India won the game by the margin of 6 runs. They clinched the series by the margin of 4-1 and kick-started their road to T20 World Cup 2024 on high. Arshdeep Singh was the star for the team as he defended 10 runs in the final over and won his team the game.

Arshdeep Singh didn’t have a great start with the ball as he was taken to the cleaners by Australian batters. However, he made a strong comeback in the last over. Mukesh Kumar also chipped in as well and picked three wickets.

Earlier, India didn’t have a great outing with the bat. Yashasvi Jaiswal (21) lost his wicket early and following that Ruturaj Gaikwad (10) perished as well. Shreyas Iyer (53) played a vital knock and batted till the last over while wickets kept tumbling around him. Jitesh Sharma (24) and Axar Patel (31) supported him well as India posted a total of 160 runs on the board.

IND vs AUS: Thanks to God, I defended it – Arshdeep Singh

Arshdeep Singh talked about the last over, saying that he was thinking that he gave away runs in the first three overs. He also talked about the conversation with skipper Suryakumar Yadav and said that he will take a lot of learnings from this series. He added:

“I was thinking that I gave away too many runs (in the first three overs) and was hoping for another chance, and thanks to God, I defended it and also thanks to the staff that they believed in me.

“Surya (before bowling the final over) told me whatever happens, happens, and credit goes to the batters as well. We had a cushion of 15-20 runs and it was definitely more than par. According to the standards we have set as an Indian team, it was not near par (speaking about his performances in this series) but there are a lot of learnings to take and hoping to come back stronger.”

India will be next seen in action when they will tour South Africa.
