Electing to bowl first after winning the toss, India managed to restrict New Zealand to a total of 273/10 in 50 overs. India chased down the target, winning by 4 wickets with just two overs to spare.

Daryl Mitchell, Rachin Ravindra take New Zealand to a decent total

New Zealand’s innings started on a rocky note as they lost early wickets. Devon Conway (0) and Will Young (17) struggled to make an impact at the top of the order. However, Rachin Ravindra (75) and Daryl Mitchell (130) showcased tremendous resilience and brilliance in the middle overs, helping New Zealand post a competitive total. The lower-order batsmen couldn’t contribute significantly, with Mitchell Santner and Matt Henry both being dismissed for ducks.

India’s bowling attack was led by Mohammed Shami, who picked up a remarkable five wickets for just 54 runs in his 10 overs. Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj chipped in with crucial wickets, while Kuldeep Yadav also played his part by taking two wickets.

Virat Kohli, Ravindra Jadeja drive India to the finish line

Chasing a target of 274, India’s opening pair, Rohit Sharma (46) and Shubman Gill (26), provided a solid start with a 73-run partnership. Former skipper Virat Kohli (95) played a crucial role in anchoring the innings, almost reaching a century. Shreyas Iyer (33) and Ravindra Jadeja (39) made valuable contributions.

For New Zealand, Trent Boult, Matt Henry, and Lockie Ferguson picked up crucial wickets, but they couldn’t do enough to stop India’s march toward the target. India secured a hard-fought victory by 4 wickets, demonstrating their batting prowess and composure under pressure.
