Sachin Tendulkar Reacts To Virat Kohli’s 49th ODI Century With Million-dollar Post

Legendary India National Cricket Team batsman Sachin Tendulkar reacted to the 49th ODI century smashed by Virat Kohli with a blockbuster post on his social media handles.

Kohli finally equaled Tendulkar’s record for most centuries in ODI cricket when he hit a ton against the South Africa National Cricket Team in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 on Sunday, November 5, at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

Kohli is celebrating his 35th birthday today and he made it special by leveling on with Tendulkar’s record, which at one point looked unmatchable. Kohli played cautiously against the Proteas bowlers and made sure that he batted deep. He completed his century off 119 balls, with 10 fours, and remained unbeaten at 101* off 121 deliveries.

After the batting maestro smashed a century in Kolkata, fans were eagerly waiting to see the reaction of the God of Cricket to the innings played by Kohli and he took to his official social media handles to share a beautiful message.

Sachin Tendulkar congratulated Kohli for his ton and was hopeful of the 35-year-old surpassing his 49 ODI centuries record in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 itself.

“Well played Virat. It took me 365 days to go from 49 to 50 earlier this year. I hope you go from 49 to 50 and break my record in the next few days. Congratulations!!,’ the God of Cricket posted on X.

Today, it was a very calculated innings – Ravi Shastri on Virat Kohli

Former India head coach Ravi Shastri was mighty impressed with Kohli’s performance and he drew parallels with Sachin Tendulkar when the batting great was chasing Sunil Gavaskar’s century record in Tests. He also said that Kohli played a calculated innings.

“Today, it was a very calculated innings. He started off quick, when the ball was coming onto the bat. And when the ball started dripping, it wasn’t easy to pick the bowlers. So, he soaked the pressure, bid his time, and upped the ante,” Shastri further said.

“It’s amazing. We are a country obsessed with records. We are obsessed with hundreds. And Sunny was the trendsetter. I remember when Sachin Tendulkar was chasing his 34th, it wasn’t easy. He had many sleepless nights, he would get out in the 70s and 80s. And it took a while, just like it has taken Virat Kohli,” Shastri said during the mid-innings show on Star Sports following Kohli’s record-equalling century.
