Afghanistan (115/5 in 20 overs) restricted Bangladesh to 105 in 17.5 overs to win AFG vs BAN Super 8 match by 8 runs. Due to rain, the match was shortened to 19 overs with a revised DLS target of 114 runs for Bangladesh.
Afghanistan captain Rashid Khan scripted history, becoming the second bowler in the world to take 150 wickets in T20 Internationals.
Veteran New Zealand bowler Tim Southee is currently the highest wicket-taker in T20Is with 164 wickets, while Rashid has 151 wickets.
Rashid Khan became the second bowler overall to reach 150 wickets in T20 Internationals but he has distinguished himself as the first spinner in the world to attain this milestone.
Afghanistan’s win over Bangladesh also made Rashid the first Afghani captain to make it to a semifinal match of the T20 World Cup.
Afghanistan will now take on South Africa in the first semi-final of ICC T20 World Cup 2024 on Thursday (June 27).
