Premier League: Gary Neville terms Alejandro Garnacho’s overhead kick ‘the best he’s ever seen’

Former Manchester United defender Gary Neville has termed Alejandro Garnacho’s overhead kick against Everton as the best he’s ever seen. Garnacho scored a brilliant goal as Manchester United beat Everton 3-0 at Goodison Park in the Premier League.

Garnacho scored a sensational overhead kick against Everton, which immediately drew comparisons to Wayne Rooney’s iconic goal from 2011. The match saw Garnacho execute an acrobatic overhead kick that sent the ball soaring past Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford and into the top corner of the net. This remarkable goal came in just the third minute of the game.

Speaking after the match, Neville said that Garnacho’s goal was the most beautiful overhead kick he’s seen, adding that it was a mixture of gymnastics and acrobatics. Garnacho’s incredible goal was followed by Marcus Rashford and Antony Martial finding the back of the net for United.

“I’ve not seen as good a goal as that from an overhead kick. That was the most beautiful overhead kick. The thing that struck me straight away was the fact he had to move away, he comes in and comes back out, moves his feet quickly and then throws himself in the air. Most players wouldn’t know how to do that: it’s gymnastic and acrobatic. It’s gymnastics – that’s not football,” said Neville.

He went on to say that this was the best overhead kick he’s ever seen, putting it above the goal that Rooney scored against Manchester City. This was the Argentine teenager’s first Premier League goal of the season and the second across competitons.

“It’s the best overhead kick I’ve ever seen. It’s not a bicycle kick, it’s an overhead kick. There are times you can get on your side, into that position. We can all do that. But to get into the position Garnacho did, I’ve never seen that before. I think Rooney’s is close to it but Garnacho’s is just better,” Neville added.

Following this win, Manchester United moved up to sixth place in the Premier League with a tally of 24 points from 13 matches.
