[ad_1]

Pakistan National Cricket Team express pacer Haris Rauf grabbed an absolutely stupendous catch to dismiss the South Africa National Cricket Team tailender Lungi Ngidi in the 26th match of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chepauk, Chennai on Friday, October 27.

Haris Rauf gave it all for his team in his last over of the match and bowled exceptionally well. He bowled 4 dot balls and also bagged a crucial wicket of Lungi Ngidi to reduce the Proteas to 260/9. He could have got one more wicket if the DRS decision had gone in their favor.

On the third ball of the 46th over, Haris Rauf bowled a 147kph delivery to Lungi Ngidi, who got a thick leading edge on the flick. The ball went in the air, but it didn’t look like the catch would be completed as Rauf was far away.

However, to everyone’s surprise, Haris Rauf put in an unbelievable dive and plucked an absolute screamer with his left hand, before throwing the ball in the air to celebrate the wicket.

Lungi Ngidi was back in the hut after scoring just 4 runs off 14 balls, leaving South Africa in a miserable position in the match.

In the end, Keshav Maharaj and Tabraiz Shamsi remained unbeaten and added crucial 11 runs to complete the run-chase and help their side with the thrilling match by 1 wicket.

During the post-match presentation ceremony, Pakistan skipper Babar Azam expressed his disappointment over the defeat. He said that they were 10-15 runs short in the match. He said:

“We are very close, we did not finish well. Very disappointing for the whole team. We fought back very well. In the batting we were 10-15 short. The fast bowlers and spinners fought well but unfortunately it was not to be.”

While talking about DRS decisions not going in Pakistan’s favor, Babar Azam said:

“It is part of the game, in DRS it is part of the game. Had he given it out, it would have favored us. We have an opportunity to win this and stay in the race but not to be. We will try our best in the next 3 matches and put our efforts and play for Pakistan. Let’s see where we will standafter that.
