Heart-warming gestures by the Kiwis
New Zealand’s first win of T20 World Cup 2024
After being outfoxed by Afghanistan and the West Indies, the Kiwis returned to their absolute best. The pace duo of Tim Southee and Trent Boult ran through Uganda’s top-order as they were bundled out for 40 runs. New Zealand chased down the target within the first 6 overs to register their first win of the tournament.
Williamson also hailed more teams getting exposure at the biggest cricketing stage.
“Great, you know. More the merrier, in terms of exposure at the highest level. The conditions have been an added challenge but having that exposure is always a great thing to learn from,” Williamson said at the post-match presentation.
After the match, the Ugandan players went to meet their fans and showcased their appreciation for the support. Despite a tough maiden T20 World Cup outing, the Ugandan players would savour their first-ever win against Papua New Guinea.
