Rumors that Indian cricketer Mohammad Shami and tennis icon Sania Mirza are going to get married have taken social media by storm, fuelled by doctored images that have gone viral on the internet.

These digitally altered photos have sparked widespread speculation and discussions about the possibility of their marriage among fans and followers. However, both Sania and Shami have not commented on the matter, but the former Indian tennis player’s father, Imran Mirza, broke his silence on the social media drama.

Rumors of Sania Mirza and Mohammad Shami’s marriage spread like wildfire

Actually, a doctored picture allegedly showing the wedding of Sania and Shami has gone viral on social media. This manipulated image was actually taken from Mirza’s wedding with Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik in April 2010.

On June 12, a Facebook account posted the altered photo, replacing Malik’s face with Shami’s, falsely claiming that the two athletes are married. Since then, the rumors of these star sportspersons’ weddings have taken social media by storm.

Notably, Sania and Shoaib divorced earlier this year, while Shami is also separated from his wife, Hasin Jahan, this fact worked like ghee for these rumors, but this is just social media users’ wild guess.

Meanwhile, Imran Mirza, Sania’s father, has confirmed that there is no truth to the wedding rumors. He called all these rumors rubbish while revealing the duo had not met yet.

Sania Mirza’s father, Imran Mirza, told NDTV: “This is all rubbish. She has not even met him.”

Notably, Sania and Malik tied the knot in April 2010. However, in January 2024, Mirza’s father revealed that they had divorced a few months earlier after Malik announced his third wedding with the Pakistani actress Sana Javed on social media.

The six-time Grand Slam champion and former Pakistan cricket team captain also have a son together named Izhan Mirza Malik, and he lives with his mother in Hyderabad, India. On the other hand, Shami and Hasin Jahan separated in 2018 after she accused him of domestic violence and adultery.

Mohammad Shami has painful memories from his first marriage

Jahan lodged a complaint of torture, cruelty, marital infidelity, match-fixing, and domestic violence against the Indian pacer and his family. Shami got married to Hasin, who was a model, in 2014, and they blessed her with a daughter in 2015, whom they named Aaira Shami, who lives with her mother.

Notably, Shami successfully underwent surgery for his right heel problem earlier this year, due to which he missed the IPL 2024. He is currently undergoing his rehab process. Shami was conferred with the Arjuna Award after his stunning performance guided India to the 2023 ODI World Cup final.

Well, Shami started bowling, and he is expected to return to action with the home series against Bangladesh. India will be hosting Bangladesh in a two-match Test series in September.
