Mitchell Marsh To Rejoin Australia World Cup Squad On Sunday

[ad_1]

The Australia National Cricket Team star batting all-rounder Mitchell Marsh is all set to rejoin Pat Cummins & Co. in India for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 on Sunday, November 5.

The star all-rounder traveled back to Australia on Thursday and made himself unavailable for the high-octane clash against England National Cricket Team. It was told that the all-rounder had traveled back home due to some personal reasons.

The reason was revealed on Friday when the Australian players were seen wearing black armbands on the field as a mark of respect for Marsh’s grandfather, Ross, who passed away on Friday evening.

Meanwhile, Mitchell Marsh will return to India on Sunday and will rejoin the Australian squad in Mumbai on Sunday evening. The development was confirmed by cricket.com.au.

Australia didn’t miss the services of Mitchell Marsh a lot as they registered a comprehensive victory over their arch-rivals England by 33 runs at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad on Saturday, November 4.

Maxi and Mitchy will be back – Pat Cummins on Glenn Maxwell and Mitchell Marsh

Speaking at the post-match presentation ceremony, skipper Pat Cummins lauded his team for getting better with every game. He said:

“It’s been great, the boys played brilliantly, we’re getting better with each match. We’ve improved with each game, still not playing the perfect game. It’s something we pride ourselves on, we didn’t start well, but the boys have put their hands up, ever since the first 2 games.”

Pat Cummins further spoke about Adam Zampa and lauded the leggie for delivering consistent performances for the team.

“He has been bowling beautifully in the last 3 games (on Zampa), made 29, and took a banger (of a catch). We thought it was a good wicket and would probably break up to his strength.”

Pat Cummins signed off by saying that Glenn Maxwell, who suffered a freak injury, and Mitchell Marsh will be back in the playing XI soon. He said:

“Maxi and Mitchy will be back, they have had a great tournament and for the others to come in and put in a performance was nice. It wasn’t too bad tonight (on the dew), sometimes we do see players getting wet as they slide on, but it wasn’t that bad today.”
