Former England cricketer Micheal Vaughan destroyed Mohammad Hafeez for taking a jibe at Virat Kohli. He targeted the former Pakistani skipper for calling the Indian batter selfish during his innings against South Africa in the ICC World Cup 2023.
Virat Kohli slammed a magnificent century against South Africa in India’s last game in the ICC World Cup 2023. While many praised the Indian batter for his stupendous ton, Mohammad Hafeez pointed out that the batter was selfish as he played for the milestone.
Speaking to PTV Sports, he said: “I saw sense of selfishness in Virat Kohli’s batting and this happened for the third time in this World Cup. In the 49th over, he was looking to take a single to reach his own hundred and he didn’t put the team first.”
Michael Vaughan however, didn’t agree with Mohammad Hafeez and touted his comments as ‘utter nonsense’. He lauded Virat Kohli for his staggering knock and pointed out that the Indian batter played an anchor role on a tough track.

However, days later, Hafeez took a subtle dig at Michael Vaughan and Virat Kohli as well. Ben Stokes slammed a vital ton against the Netherlands in the ICC World Cup 2023 under pressure and bailed his team out of trouble. He scored 108 runs and powered his team total to 339 runs.
Mohammad Hafeez lauded Ben Stokes and said that his innings was a sheer example to differentiate the selfish vs selfless approach. He also tagged Michael Vaughan.

Michael Vaughan however, didn’t stay shut as he highlighted yet again that Virat Kohli batted on a tough pitch. Taking to his X account, he said:

Michael Vaughan didn’t stop there as he took another dig at Mohammad Hafeez. He posted a picture of a former Pakistan batter getting bowled by Virat Kohli. He hilariously remarked that he got out by Indian batter and that’s why he’s targeting him.

Virat Kohli has batted staggeringly well in the ICC World Cup 2023. He is the second leading run-getter in the tournament with 543 runs to his name to go with 2 centuries. He has spent 14 hours and 39 minutes at the crease in the tournament, which is the most by any batter.
