Maybe MS Dhoni Can Play Three More IPL Seasons

MS Dhoni was retained by Chennai Super Kings ahead of IPL 2024. This almost gives a guarantee that he will be playing at least one more season in the IPL. CSK are the defending champions of the league having won the title last season.

MS Dhoni as CSK captain has now won five IPL titles and is on par with Rohit Sharma who has also won five IPL titles as captain. Together MI and CSK are the two most successful IPL franchises with five titles each.

In his recent YouTube video, AB De Villiers spoke about MS Dhoni’s future in the IPL. The former Indian skipper is aging 42 heading into the brand new season and is one of the oldest players in the league.

MS Dhoni Has Got Three More Seasons To Go: AB De Villiers

“I see that man’s name on the retention list, and it just makes me happy. There was a lot of talk about it in the last season about whether it was going to be his last season. He is moving on to 2024 to play another IPL season. With him, he is always full of surprises. Maybe he has got three more to go, who knows? But It is just great to see his name on there” ABD said on Dhoni.

He further said that the franchise is very good at picking released players as they have specific roles for such players. De Villiers expects CSK to bid for Shahrukh Khan who plays for Tamil Nadu in domestic cricket.

“He (Shahrukh Khan) is a strong player and is pretty consistent,” de Villiers stated. “I am very sure some of the teams will be very keen to get him over there. He hits the ball a long way as well. That’s where CSK stand out. They are very good at picking up released players. “Guys who seem to be forgotten, all of a sudden play in the yellow jersey and are in the top five run-scorers list or wicket-taking list.”

CSK released eight players heading into the IPL 2024 auction and have a remaining purse of INR 32.1 crore.
