Lionel Messi vs Cristiano Ronaldo ‘last dance’ as Inter Miami face Al Nassr in Riyadh Season Cup 2024

Lionel Messi is set to face his long-time rival Cristiano Ronaldo in what is being billed as their ‘Last Dance’ at the Riyadh Season Cup 2024 as Inter Miami is all set to face Al Nassr next year in February.

This highly anticipated match-up will take place during the state-sponsored entertainment and sports festival known as Riyadh Season, which is organized by the Saudi government to showcase the country’s culture and heritage.

Messi had joined Inter Miami in the summer and has enjoyed success with side. The Argentine maestro won an unprecedented eighth Ballon d’Or, making him the first active MLS player to receive this honor.

Ronaldo, on the other hand, had moved to Al Nassr early in January 2023 and has been in prime goalscoring form this year.

The tournament will also have Neymar’s Al Hilal as well. However, the Brazilian superstar isn’t expected to play as he continues his recovery from a long-term injury.

The 2023 edition of the Riyadh Cup saw Messi and Ronaldo go head-to-head while playing for PSG and the Riyadh All-Star team, respectively, with both legends scoring in a thrilling 5-4 victory for PSG.

A statement from Turki Alalshikh, chairman of the Saudi General Entertainment Authority, said that they were looking forward to welcoming Inter Miami in February next year for the tournament and also get to see Messi and Ronaldo face-off once again.

“We look forward to welcoming everyone from Inter Miami in February for the Riyadh Season Cup, which will bring together a number of the biggest international stars from across all three clubs competing.”

“The excitement and global interest that we expect this tournament to generate expands upon one of our main aspirations for Riyadh Season – to create international events that visitors to Riyadh and fans around the world can all enjoy,” read the statement.
