Jasprit Bumrah can’t be conquered, claims Aakash Chopra as he challenges modern-day batting greats

[ad_1]

Aakash Chopra feels that Jasprit Bumrah is a ‘different level guy’ after seeing his performance against Afghanistan in India’s first Super 8 match of T20 WC.

The match, which took place at the Kensington Oval in Barbados, was a one-sided affair as the Indian team led by Rohit Sharma were too clinical. Despite suffering a top-order collapse in the 1st innings while batting after winning the toss, the Men in Blue recovered very well, thanks to Suryakumar Yadav’s man-of-the-match-winning knock.

India Vs Afghanistan Super 8 match as it went

SKY smashed 53 off 28 at a strike rate of nearly 190 which included 5 fours and 3 sixes. Number 5 batter Shivam Dube, who was expected to go all guns blazing in the difficult situation, was out for just 10 runs by Afghani skipper Rashid Khan. Suryakumar Yadav’s half-century was complimented by vice-captain Hardik Pandya, who had stitched a 60-run partnership with the 360-degree batter.

Axar Patel and Ravindra Jadeja’s supporting acts towards the end helped India post 182 as the target after not even being close to scoring the total. In response, Afghanistan lost way too many early wickets, thanks to Jasprit Bumrah’s opening spell which saw him scalp the wickets of both the opening batters.

Jasprit Bumrah first dismissed Rahmanullah Gurbaz for 11 off 8 in the 2nd over. In his next over (2nd), Bumrah literally fooled Hazratullah Zazai with an off-cutter for just 2 off 4. Bumrah completed his three wickets by dismissing Najibullah Zadran for 19 off 17. Arshdeep Singh, Kuldeep Yadav, Axar Patel, and Ravindra Jadeja picked up 3, 2, 1, and 1 wickets respectively.

While both Arshdeep and Jasprit Bumrah picked up 3 wickets each, the latter’s performance was highly appreciated for his economy rate of just 1.75. The left-arm seamer on the other hand proved to be very expensive, conceding 9 runs per over to finish with figures of 3/36.

What did Aakash Chopra say about Jasprit Bumrah?

While speaking in his latest YouTube video, Aakash Chopra labeled Jasprit Bumrah as team India’s glory because no one can get the better of him. Chopra highlighted how Bumrah got rid of Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Hazratullah Zazai with a caught behind and off-cutter.

Aakash Chopra labelled Jasprit Bumrah’s performance as outstanding for he leaked just 7 runs in his spell of four overs and picking 3 wickets. The former Indian opening batter concluded by saying that Bumrah is a different-level guy.

“India reached 181/8 and after that, it was India’s glory because Jasprit Bumrah was there. No one can get the better of him. Both openers were dismissed. First Rahmanullah Gurbaz was cleaned up and then Hazratullah Zazai. He got one caught behind and the other with a slower one,” Chopra said in his latest YT video.

“Jasprit Bumrah picked up three wickets. Boom Boom was absolutely outstanding. He conceded only seven runs in four overs while taking those three wickets. He is a different-level guy,” Aakash Chopra concluded.
