India Register Their Highest Successful Chase In T20Is After 2-Wicket Win Over Australia

[ad_1]

India Cricket Team achieved history as they completed their highest-ever successful chase in the T20Is. They registered a 2-wicket win over Australia in the first game of the five-match series at the Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium, Visakhapatnam.

India chased the gigantic total of 209 runs and took a 1-0 lead in the five-match T20I series against Australia. They didn’t have a great start with the bat as they lost Ruturaj Gaikwad for a diamond duck in the first over itself. Following that Yashasvi Jaiswal (21) perished too and they came under immense pressure.

With the team tottering at 22/2, Ishan Kishan (58) and captain Suryakumar Yadav (80) joined hands together and added 112 runs partnership to bring India back into the game. They counter-attacked the Australian bowlers and made sure that they kept the run rate in check.

While Kishan perished after scoring a half-century, Suryakumar Yadav continued smashing Australia’s bowlers. He perished at the crucial juncture as the opposition made a slight comeback. India lost wickets in clusters at the back end and the game went down the wire.

But, it was calm and cool Rinku Singh (22*) who held his nerves well and took his team home. Despite having less experience and losing partners at the other end, he didn’t panic and smashed six on the last ball to take his team home and helped them win the game by 2 wickets.

Earlier in the game, Steve Smith (52) and Josh Inglis (110) added 130 runs for the second wicket for Australia with bat and put India under pressure. Smith unfortunately got run out but Inglis continued his carnage on the Indian bowlers and slammed a brutal century. After his rollicking innings, Tim David (19*) finished the innings on high and powered Australia to a big total of 208 runs. For India, Prasidh Krishna and Ravi Bishnoi picked one wicket each.
