[ad_1]

India National Cricket Team left-arm spinner Ravindra Jadeja rattled the stumps of the South Africa National Cricket Team left-arm spinner Keshav Maharaj with a beauty during the 37th match of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 on Sunday, November 5, at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

Jadeja was at his absolute best in the match against the Proteas and he made a good contribution with the bat and then an even better contribution with the bowl. The left-armer played quickfire innings with the bat as he scored 29 runs off 15 balls, with 3 fours and 1 six, to help India post a gigantic total of 326/5 on the board.

When it came to bowling, Jadeja was brought in early by captain Rohit Sharma and then he was allowed to bowl most overs for the side after performing exceptionally well. Jadeja ended up picking 5 wickets for 33 runs in 9 overs.

Keshav Maharaj was Jadeja’s one of the five wickets as the left-armer rattled the stumps of the Proteas player. On the fourth ball of the 19th over, Jadeja bowled a length ball around the middle and leg stump and it beat the outside edge to rattle the stumps, leaving the batter in shock. Maharaj was back in the hut after scoring 7 runs off 11 balls, with 1 four.

In the end, Indian bowlers continued their domination in the match and bundled out South Africa for a low score of 83 in 27.1 overs to earn a mammoth victory by 243 runs.

During the post-match presentation ceremony, captain Rohit Sharma said that Ravindra Jadeja is a vital member of the team and he performed well against South Africa. He said:

“Jadeja has been very good for us. Playing in every format over the years. Today was a classical case as to what Jadeja is for us. Came out at the death and scored vital runs. Then picked up wickets.”

The Indian captain added that Jadeja is well aware of his role in the team. He said:

“He knows his role and knows what the expectations from him. Not to get too ahead of ourselves has been the talk in the dressing room. Couple of big games coming up. We don’t want to change anything.”
