Former batter lauded Josh Inglis after the latter racked up his maiden T20I hundred in the first game of the five-match T20I series against India on Thursday, November 23 in Visakhapatnam.
Inglis racked up his half-century off 29 balls after which he got to his hundred off 47 balls. He also equalled Aaron Finch’s record of the fastest T20I hundred by an Australian batter.
Inglis scored 110 runs off 47 balls with 11 fours and eight sixes as Australia racked up a massive score of 208 for the loss of three wickets in 20 overs.
“He was excellent right from the word go tonight. He scored all around the wicket. Against pace and spin, his timing was spot on, he opened the blade beautifully to access the off-side. Then he had the power game through the leg side as well as we see it in the highlights,” Katich was quoted as saying on Jio Cinemas
Inglis was also involved in a partnership of 130 runs along with Steve Smith, who also scored a hundred, for the second wicket.
After he got the measure of the conditions, Inglis played his shots without nurturing any inhibitions. Katich reckoned that Inglis made it tough for the Indian bowlers by making excellent use of the crease.
“What I loved the most is how he used the crease naturally and made it very difficult for the Indian bowlers,” he added.
Inglis earlier impressed everyone when he played some useful knocks for the Aussies in World Cup 2023.
