Former India cricketer Irfan Pathan hailed the Afghanistan team’s growth in the ICC tournaments. The Rashid Khan-led side reached the Super 8 stage of the T20 World Cup 2024. In a historic moment for the Afghanistan team, they advanced to the next stage alongside hosts West Indies in Group C. Pathan took to ‘X’ to express his happiness at Afghanistan’s rise. He hailed the bowlers as well as the batters and wished the team good luck for the Super 8s. Afghanistan are yet to lose a game in the marquee tournament.
The Rashid-led side have been dominant ever since their first encounter. They won by a 125-run margin against Uganda and followed it up with an 84-run victory against New Zealand. Afghanistan sealed their spot in the Super 8 with a 7-wicket win over Papua New Guinea. Interestingly. Afghanistan ended New Zealand’s campaign and eliminated them from the tournament early on.
