PCB Media took to social media platform ‘X’, to announce that Zaman spoke to Ashraf after the match and would be receiving a reward worth Rs 1 million for his knock against New Zealand. Zaman remained unbeaten on 126 runs off 81 balls, smashing eight boundaries and 11 sixes in Bengaluru.

“PCB Management Committee Chairman Zaka Ashraf’s telephone conversation with Fakhar Zaman. Zaka Ashraf praised Fakhar Zaman’s unbeaten innings of 126 runs today. Zaka Ashraf announced a reward of Rs 1 million for Fakhar Zaman for today’s outstanding performance. He said, I hope you will perform well in the upcoming matches,” PCB Media posted on ‘X’.

In the first innings, New Zealand posted 401 for 6 on the scoreboard on the back of a brilliant hundred from Rachin Ravindra with skipper Kane Williamson chipping in with a 79-ball 95 upon his return from injury.

Zaman led Pakistan’s charge with an incredible innings, scoring a sensational century off just 63 balls. Fakhar, on the other hand, continued his aggressive hitting, particularly against Trent Boult and Glenn Philips. His century is Pakistan’s fastest in World Cup history. Meanwhile, Babar Azam held his ground and stood firm while scoring a brilliant fifty in the run-chase.

With Pakistan at 200 for 1 in 25.3 overs, rain came in and did not let play resume in Bengaluru, forcing DLS to intervene. Pakistan emerged as victors by 21 runs to stay alive in the race for the semi-finals in the ongoing ODI World Cup.
