Virat Kohli is known for his heroics with the bat. But when the captain has run out of options to go with the ball, he can also chip in with the ball. Not only did Kohli was asked upon to roll his arms over in India’s last league match of World Cup 2023 against Netherlands at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru where Mohammed Siraj was injured and India were perhaps preparing for the worst in a knockout fixture. Kohli bowled a tight first over, producing an edge which went for four.

However, in the very next over, he removed the Dutch captain Scott Edwards. Although the ball was drifting down the leg side, Edwards could only manage a trickle down the leg which was grabbed by KL Rahul in a fine catch to go with his hundred earlier in the match. The wicket marked Kohli’s maiden World Cup wicket and the first in ODIs in nine years. Last time Kohli took a wicket in ODIs was against New Zealand at Wellington in 2014.

While the entire stadium loved Kohli taking a wicket, Mrs. Kohli, Anushka Sharma’s reaction, while watching the match from the stadium has gone viral.

Take a look at Anushka’s reaction here:

Later, captain Rohit Sharma also opted to try out his other bowling options, giving a few overs to Shubman Gill and Suryakumar Yadav. While Rohit was spotted practicing bowling before the match, he did not bowl in the match. India are set to meet New Zealand in the first semifinal of World Cup 2023 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai irrespective of the result of the match against the Dutch. However, the Men in Orange will be able to secure qualification in Champions Trophy, in case they pull of a win against India which seems unlikely.
