Abhishek Sharma declared ready to replace Rohit Sharma as Navjot Singh Sidhu hails SRH star

[ad_1]

Navjot Singh Sidhu applauded the growth of SRH opener Abhishek Sharma and also for his extraordinary performance in IPL 2024

Abhishek Sharma well and truly experienced his best-ever IPL season in 2024 in which his team, the Sunrisers Hyderabad are only one win away from becoming champions. Abhishek has played a massive role in the success that Hyderabad have experienced this year. Led by Pat Cummins, the Orange Army were on their best run of form in the tournament across the last few seasons.

The team management kept backing Abhishek Sharma to open in the last 2 seasons but the pairing they found for him at the auction for IPL 2024, made the difference. After bagging Pat Cummins for 20.50 Crores, SRH went for his Australian World Cup opening batter Travis Head for a deal over 7 crores.

Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head proved to be a deadly opening combination for the opposing teams in the league. The duo were responsible for Hyderabad consistently scoring 220+ totals within the blink of an eye. SRH’s dependency on Abhishek and Head also became very evident as the season proceeded.

Opposing teams have figured out that by getting Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head out, SRH get under pressure and it was something KKR exercised during qualifier 1.

While speaking in a fan interaction with Star Sports, Navjot Singh Sidhu had high praise for Abhishek Sharma and the growth he has made over the years. Sidhu, who is technically Abhishek’s senior statesman from Punjab, claimed that the batter is ready to shine at the big stage.

Now that big stage means that he is ready to appear in the senior men’s team and contribute with his aggressive batting style. Sidhu believes that Abhishek Sharma has the right temperament to play at the international level and stated that he belongs to the area. The former Indian batter concludes by saying that Abhishek is all set to make India proud.

“Yeh baccha taiyaar hai (This kid is ready). He has the temperament to play in international cricket and he feels he belongs to the area. He is ready to make India proud,” Navjot Singh Sidhu said via Star Sports.

Last night, Abhishek Sharma reached his first-ever IPL final after the Sunrisers Hyderabad defeated the Rajasthan Royals by 36 runs in Qualifier 2.

Abhishek Sharma’s season as it went

Abhishek Sharma experienced his best-ever IPL season as he scored 470 runs from 14 innings at a daunting strike rate of 207 with 3 half-centuries. He has also smacked the most number of sixes (41) this season and is tied with Sunil Narine and partner in crime Travis Head in terms of most Man of the Match awards in IPL 2024.

The youngster scored the fastest fifty for SRH off 16 balls against Mumbai Indians.
