[ad_1]

India tour to Zimbabwe: The Indian cricket team is gearing up for a five-match T20 International series against Zimbabwe, set to begin from July 6 onwards.

Ex-India player VVS Laxman, along with his support staff from the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru, is expected to accompany the Indian team for IND vs ZIM T20I series. India squad for Zimbabwe tour is expected to be announced by the end of this week, on June 22 or 23.

Gautam Gambhir, most likely to be appointed as the ‘new head coach of team India’, is likely to begin his coaching stint with India’s tour of Sri Lanka for a white-ball series in mid-July. The series between India and Sri Lanka will feature three T20 Internationals and three One Day Internationals.

“There is a possibility that Laxman along with some of the NCA coaches will travel with the new look squad to Zimbabwe. Laxman and the NCA team has always filled up whenever Rahul Dravid and the first team coaches have been taking periodic breaks during their stint,” a BCCI source told PTI on condition of anonymity.

A young squad will travel to Zimbabwe for the upcoming IND vs ZIM T20I series, including six to seven members from India’s T20 World Cup 2024 team. New players almost certain to be included are Riyan Parag, Abhishek Sharma, and all-rounder Nitish Reddy, with either Yash Dayal or Harshit Rana likely to make their debut.
