Let’s create something special: Nitish shares Gambhir’s text message

[ad_1]

Nitish Rana posted the screenshot of the text message that Gautam Gambhir shared with him after being appointed as the mentor of KKR in IPL 2024. On Sunday, May 26, the Knight Riders won the IPL for the third time after beating the Pat Cummins-led SRH by 8 wickets at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

Under Gambhir’s captaincy, KKR won the title in 2012 and 2014. But when Gambhir wasn’t there with them, the Knight Riders struggled to perform from 2018 to 2023. But with the veteran back in their setup, although not in a playing role, the Men in Gold and Purple have found back their rhythm.

In the text message, Gambhir talked about the satisfaction of standing on the podium after winning trophies.

“Thanks Nitish for this message. This means a lot. Let’s create something special. There is no better feeling in sport to stand on a podium and win a trophy. Let’s experience that,” Gambhir’s text read.

Rana shared the screenshot, saying that the Knight Riders will look to adopt the ‘GG Mentality’. The left-handed batter wrote, “In this era of Mamba Mentality, we’re soon all going to embrace the GG Mentality too.”

‘A day I will never forget’

After KKR won the title, Rana also talked about the message from Gambhir. He also said that winning the title with the Knight Riders would always be memorable for him.

“I want to share one short story that when GG bhaiya (Gambhir) was named the mentor, I sent him a long message as I was really happy. But he replied saying, ‘Thank you but I would be happy if we stand at the podium with the trophy in our hands’. Today is that day and I will never forget that message,” Rana told the broadcasters.

In the final, the Knights had it easy after they bowled SRH out for 113 in 18.3 overs. Thereafter, they tracked down the target with 57 balls left in their innings.
