Novak Djokovic concluded the 2023 ATP season at the top of the ATP rankings for a record-extending eighth time, solidifying his greatness in tennis history. The Serbian tennis maestro capped off a record-breaking season by securing victory at the ATP Finals, dominating Jannik Sinner in the final match. At 36, Djokovic, who is into his 402nd week as the top-ranked ATP player, clinched a record seven titles in 2023, surpassing Spain’s Rafael Nadal to hold the most Grand Slam singles titles.

With 15 year-end Top 3 finishes in ATP Rankings, Djokovic equalled Roger Federer’s record, securing his reign at the top until at least January 22, a testimony to why is regarded among the Greatest Tennis players of all time. 

In a thrilling contest, Djokovic claimed victory against Carlos Alcaraz at the ATP Finals, securing his eighth ATP Finals title. He regained the top spot from Alcaraz after their five-set final clash at the All England Club in July, with Alcaraz finishing the year at No. 2, marking their frequent swaps at the top throughout 2023.

Beginning 2023 by securing victories at the Adelaide International and the Australian Open, Djokovic faced setbacks in the next few tournaments before winning the French Open. Despite a few hiccups, he clinched major titles at the US Open, Cincinnati Masters, Paris Masters and the ATP Finals. In a notable feat, Djokovic achieved his 24th Grand Slam title by triumphing over Daniil Medvedev in the US Open final back in September 2023, surpassing Nadal in Grand Slam titles among men.

Following his triumph at the US Open, Djokovic accomplished the Triple Career Grand Slam, a feat never achieved before, by winning each of the four Grand Slams at least three times. Additionally, he became the first man to win at least three Grand Slams on hard, grass and clay surfaces. Djokovic’s 2023 season included reaching the finals of all four Grand Slams which meant an appearance in 36 Grand slam finals.
