‘Tough To See Them Emotional’

[ad_1]

Indian head coach Rahul Dravid opened up about the loss the team faced in the final of the ICC World Cup 2023 against Australia. He admitted that players have been emotional after the loss and it was tough for him to see them like that.

India were at the receiving end of another heartbreaking loss in the ICC events. They faced a disappointing 6-wicket loss at the hands of Australia in the final of the ICC World Cup 2023. They couldn’t get the luck in their way and that coupled with slight poor performances with bat and ball.

India played a sensational brand of cricket as they won 10 games on a trot including a win in the semi-final. But when it mattered they couldn’t capitalise on the crucial junctures. After getting bundled out 240 runs, they had Australia 47/3 but after that, they couldn’t pick wickets as the opposition chased the target with 6 wickets in hand.

After the loss, the Indians were extremely shattered. Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma,  Mohammed Siraj, and others were in tears. With the kind of performances they put in the tournament, they deserved to win the title but it wasn’t meant to be as luck again didn’t favor them.

Rahul Dravid admitted that players are disappointed as they put in great effort throughout the tournament. He added that they will try to learn from the loss and reflect on what went wrong for them. Speaking during the press conference, he explained:

“The boys are disappointed. There are a lot of emotions in the dressing room. It was tough to see them as a coach. You get to see their sacrifices and the effort they have put. I am sure the sun will come up tomorrow morning, we will reflect and learn from it. If you don’t go through such matches then you won’t enjoy the highs.”

IND vs AUS: He has given a lot of time and energy in this campaign – Rahul Dravid on Rohit Sharm a

Rohit Sharma was one of the most deserving guys from the Indian contingent to win the trophy. Be it with his batting or leadership, he gave his everything. He led from the front and scored around 600 runs. His captaincy throughout the tournament was spot-on as well.

Rahul Dravid hailed Rohit Sharma as an exceptional leader and said that he gave his everything in this campaign. He added that the captain wanted to lead from the front and he couldn’t speak any higher of him. He explained:

“Rohit has been an exceptional leader. He has got the dressing room. He is always available for any conversations. He’s always committed. He has given a lot of time and energy in this campaign. Even his batting, he has always set the tone for us. He wanted to lead by example. I can’t speak more highly of him.”

It remains to be seen what will be the future of the India team after the loss in the final. They will be next seen in action when they will take on Australia in the five-match T20I series, starting next week.
