‘My Tongue Slipped And Aishwarya Ji’s Name Came Out…’- Abdul Razzaq Reacts To The Controversy

[ad_1]

Former Pakistan allrounder Abdul Razzaq has issued an apology after facing backlash over his recent remarks about Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai. He and several other former Pakistan cricketers recently attended an event and talked about Pakistan cricket and the failure in the ongoing ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023.

When Abdul Razzaq was sharing his views, he ended up making a derogatory remark about Aishwarya while trying to make his point. The former allrounder was speaking about the Pakistan cricket team’s performance in the World Cup and spoke about coaching and intentions.

“We don’t really intend to improve and develop the players, in my opinion. It is like if you think you will marry Aishwarya (Rai) and have a good-natured and moral child. It will never happen like that. First, you will have to fix your intentions,” he said.

Abdul Razzaq issues apology:

Abdul Razzaq has faced severe backlash for his distasteful comment about Aishwarya. Not only the fans but several former cricketers including his own ex-teammates have slammed him for the comment. The likes of Shoaib Akhtar and Shahid Afridi took to X to condemn the comment and asked Abdul Razzaq to apologize.

The allrounder didn’t take long to issue an apology, stating that it was a slip of the tongue and that he did not intend to make the distasteful remark about Aishwarya.

“Yesterday, we were discussing cricket in a press conference, talking about coaching and discussing intentions. My tongue slipped, and Aishwarya Ji’s name came out. I apologize, I am sorry to her. That was not my intention. I wanted to give a different example, and this came out. “

This is not the first time that Abdul Razzaq has hogged the limelight for making an unexpected comment. Earlier, he faced the heat from the Indian fans for mocking the likes of Hardik Pandya and Jasprit Bumrah. Meanwhile, Pakistan crashed out of the ongoing World Cup at the league stage. The Babar Azam-led side finished in the fifth spot with 4 wins and 5 defeats.
