The Indian cricket team, led by Rohit Sharma, has dominated the World Cup 2023. The team has not only topped the points table in the tournament but are also the only team to remain unbeaten in the tournament after playing 8 matches.
India’s winning streak in this edition of the World Cup equals its joint-longest, with eight consecutive victories matching their record from 2003. This remarkable performance has brought them closer to their third ODI World Cup title, having remained undefeated throughout the tournament. The team’s success can be attributed to the consistent performances of key players like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Mohammed Shami, Jasprit Bumrah, and Ravindra Jadeja. Shami in particular has been very impressive and has picked up 16 wickets already after playing four matches in the tournament. Shami replaced Hardik Pandya in India’s match against New Zealand and has been undroppable ever since.
Rohit Sharma, in particular, has been instrumental in leading the team to victory, breaking Sachin Tendulkar’s record for the most centuries in World Cup history. Virat Kohli on the other hand notched up his 49th ODI hundred, matching Sachin Tendulkar and would be hunting his 50th ODI hundred in the remaining matches of the tournament.
