‘Modi’s concept of…’: Bengal Governor lauds India’s win against South Africa

[ad_1]

West Bengal Governor CV Ananda Bose on Sunday congratulated the Indian cricket team for winning its 8th successive match at the 2023 World Cup and defeating South Africa by 243 runs.

As he lauded India’s performance at the World Cup, he spoke of “Modi’s concept of Aatmanirbhar Bharat” and how it has spread to all fields, including sports.

“India has once again proved that we are second to none. Narendra Modi ji’s concept of Aatmanirbhar Bharat (self-reliant India) is spreading across all fields, including sports. We have proved to the whole world that India is Aatmanirbhar. It is a victory for all the people of India,” he said.

He also thanked the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and said that India’s victory is the victory of all people of Bengal. The India vs South Africa World Cup match took place on Sunday at Kolkata’s Eden Gardens.

Reacting to the West Bengal Governor’s mention of PM Modi’s ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ concept, Trinamool Congress MP Saket Gokhale asked if the Prime Minister is to be “credited for Virat’s brilliant century and India’s victory”.

“Modi to be credited for Virat’s brilliant century & India’s victory today? This is a new low even for the West Bengal Governor,” he said in a tweet.

Further taking a dig at CV Ananda Bose and the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP), Gokhale wrote, “BJP appoints political sycophants like these as Governors, purely to execute their agenda and these people will say anything to please their boss.”

India’s win by 243 runs against South Africa was their 8th consecutive in which Virat Kohli took his tally to 543 runs, compiled at 108.60 with two centuries and four fifties.

Virat Kohli equalled Sachin Tendulkar’s record of most ODI centuries with his 49th hundred during the India vs South Africa match on Sunday.
