PAK vs AFG: Watch – Babar Azam Refuses As Mohammad Nabi Tries To Tie His Shoelace

[ad_1]

In a beautiful gesture, Pakistan National Cricket Team captain Babar Azam refused to take help from the former Afghanistan National Cricket Team captain Mohammad Nabi in tying his shoelace.

The Men In Green and Afghanistan National Cricket Team are taking on each other in the 22nd match of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chepauk, Chennai on Monday, October 23.

At the toss, the coin fell in Babar Azam’s favor and Pakistan opted to bat first in the match. They made a sole change to their playing XI as vice-captain Shadab Khan was back in the team in place of sick Mohammad Nawaz. Afghanistan also made a change to their playing XI as Noor Ahmad replaced Fazalhaq Farooqi.

Openers Abdullah Shafique and Imam-ul-Haq played quite well and provided their team with a good start. Shafique, especially, looked amazing in the middle and he played confident cricket. The youngster also smashed two sixes in the first 10 overs to end Pakistan’s drought of powerplay maximums.

Just after the powerplay, Imam-ul-Haq once again fell to a short ball and Pakistan captain Babar Azam came to bat in the middle. At one stage in the match, Babar Azam realized that his shoelace wasn’t tied and he asked for help from an Afghanistan fielder.

Babar at first didn’t realize that the fielder was Nabi but as soon as he came to know that the fielder was the 38-year-old Nabi, he refused to take the help, showcasing the respect for his elder.

The Afghanistan veteran was still keen to help Babar, but the Pakistan moved away, quickly removed his gloves, and tied his lace.

Speaking at the toss, Babar Azam said that they wanted to bat first and then defend the score because the pacers might get help from the surface under lights.

“We will bat first. The pitch looks very dry and might spin. We have one change, unfortunately Nawaz has fever and Shadab is back.”

“We will have to give our 100% in every match and step-up, that’s what I want from my players. The pitch might help the pacers under lights.”

Pakistan have so far played 4 matches in the ICC World Cup 2023. They won matches against the Netherlands and Sri Lanka and lost against India and Australia.
