The ICC T20 World Cup 2024 warm-up game between the USA and Bangladesh has been abandoned due to the adverse weather conditions. Both teams were set to lock horns against each other at the Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas on Tuesday (May 28).
However, just over an hour before the start of the game, it was called off due to the conditions of the facilities at the venue. The entire area was affected by severe storm and tornado, leaving the stadium in unplayable condition.
The entire area was affected by severe wind that was clocked at 80 mph. One giant screen that was placed in the stadium was completely destroyed. The temporary screen was installed for replays and graphics for the main event. With the weather conditions not at all suitable for the game to take place, the organisers have decided to call it off.
“Tornado, severe thunderstorm + 80 MPH winds, flash flood warnings have all gone through Dallas and Grand Prairie areas this morning. A temporary Big Screen TV that was brought into the ground for replays and graphics for the T20 World Cup on one side of the stadium is destroyed.
“USA v Bangladesh official ICC warmup match has been canceled for today in Texas. You can hear fire engine sirens periodically passing all through the streets nearby the stadium over the last hour or so,” cricket journalist Peter Della Pena reported from the ground.

The organizers will be hoping that the conditions improve soon and the T20 World Cup does not get affected. The tournament opener is scheduled to be played at the same venue on June 1. The ICC is now in a race against time to ensure that the facilities are repaired quickly for the tournament opener later this week.
USA stun Bangladesh:
Before the abandoned warm-up game, USA and Bangladesh locked horns in a three-match T20I series and the former stunned their fancied opponents by clinching the series 2-1.
The USA won the first two T20Is before Bangladesh won the third to salvage some pride. USA won the first two games by 5 and 6 wickets while Bangladesh won the third T20I by 10 runs.
Talking about the T20 World Cup, the USA will open their campaign on June 1 against Canada while Bangladesh will be playing their first game of the tournament on June 7 against Sri Lanka.
