Pakistan Playing 11 vs England- 3rd T20I, Pakistan tour of England 2024

Pakistan takes on England in the third T20I in Cardiff on Tuesday, May 28. The match starts from 11 pm IST which 2.30 pm local time. The Men in Green have an uphill task with two more games remaining. 

Pakistan chasing 184 to win the second T20I were bowled out for 160. The loss highlighted the over-dependence of the batting lineup on Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan and the mercurial nature of the Pakistan cricket team. 

They were completely outplayed in the second T20I in every department. With the third T20I being a must-win game to keep the series, alive Pakistan can be at their very best in the next game. 

Pakistan have named an 18-member squad with Hasan Ali back in the side.  Haris Rauf and Azam Khan who missed the T20I series against New Zealand recently are also back in the side. Mohammad Amir and Imad Wasim who could not make a match-winning impact with the bat in the second T20I will be looking for a better performance. 

Here is a look at Pakistan’s possible playing XI for the third T20I. They might keep the same side and back them to perform in this must-win game.

Mohammad Rizwan

Rizwan was out for a duck in the previous game. He is one of the batting pillars of Pakistan cricket in the T20I format and will need to score some runs in the third T20I. 

Saim Ayub

The young southpaw scored just two in the previous match. It will be interesting to see if Pakistan persists with him at the top of the order or if Babar takes his place. 

Babar Azam (C)

The skipper batted at three in the previous game and scored 32 off 26 balls. His innings was not enough as England broke the partnership between him and Fakhar Zaman. 

Fakhar Zaman 

The southpaw will slot in at fourhe scored 45 off 21 balls in the second T20I and tried to give the innings some impetus. He was the top scorer for Pakistan in the last match. 

Azam Khan (wk)

Azam Khan will slot in at five as the specialist wicketkeeper-batter. He scored just 11 in the second T20I and kept ahead of Rizwan in the game

Iftikhar Ahmed

The hard-hitting Iftikhar Ahmed will slot in at six. he scored 23 in the chase against England which was not enough to see his team home. 

Imad Wasim

The Pakistan all-rounder will slot in at seven. He scored 22 off 13 balls in his comeback game and took two for 19. His effort was not enough as the others did not back him up. 

Shadab Khan 

The leg-spinning all-rounder will slot in at eight. He was not at his best in the previous match but is a key player for Pakistan heading into the World Cup. He went for 55 off his four overs in the last game.

Shaheen Afridi

The former Pakistan T20I skipper will slot in at nine. He picked up 3/36 in the previous match against England. He is nine short of 100 T20I wickets. The pacer will have a key role to play in the third T20I. 

Mohammad Amir 

The veteran pacer will be the second seamer in the XI. He went for 34 off his four overs in his comeback game and remained wicketlessAmir too will have a key role in the third T20I. 

Haris Rauf

Rauf completes the lineup for Pakistan in the third T20I. He took 2/34 in the previous T20I but his effort was not enough. He will be a key pacer for Pakistan in the T20 World Cup.
