Pakistan Players ‘Ignoring’ IPL Final On TV Sets Off India vs Pakistan Fan War On Social Media

[ad_1]

IND vs PAK Fan War: When it comes to the realm of cricket, there’s hardly any rivalry between teams and nations that is enjoyed as fervently as that between the subcontinent neighbours, India and Pakistan. Despite not having played a bilateral series since 2012-13, India vs Pakistan clashes in the ICC events are always an event of high attraction. What also garners everyone’ attention is the fans and supporters of both countries going at each other on social media or elsewhere. One such occurrence during the England vs Pakistan T20I series is gaining traction on social media.

A video from the ENG vs PAK T20I series showed Pakistan players walking past a TV displaying the Indian Premier League (IPL) season 2024 final, which was played between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). This sparked an online debate between Indian and Pakistani fans, who exchanged words for and against the IPL.

Tense relations between the two countries have kept Pakistani players out of the lucrative league for several editions, often leading to bitterness across the border. In a video circulating on social media, Pakistani players can be seen walking in what appears to be a lounge, with a television in the background airing the IPL final between KKR and SRH.

Shortly after the video went viral, Pakistani fans began claiming that their players “ignored the IPL final,” sparking a war of words between fans from the two neighbouring countries. A user who appears to be a Pakistani supporter wrote, “On the one hand, the final match of IPL was playing on the big screen and the Pakistan team was ignoring it. Sorry IPL No Respect for you,”

“Is that even relevant? does it make an iota of difference to IPL if these cricketers ignored to watch the final on TV?,” another X user replied.
