Mitchell Starc credited wife Alyssa Healy for helping him make a comeback in the Indian Premier League (IPL). The Australian left-arm fast bowler had huge expectations on his shoulders after being bought for a whopping price of Rs 24.75 crores. In fact, he became the most expensive player in the history of the cash-rich T20 league.

However, he had his troubled times to start with after he leaked 100 runs at an economy rate of 12.50 in his first 2 games without picking up a single wicket. He kept struggling for a majority of the tournament before finding his feet in the last leg of the league phase.

During this while, Starc’s wife Alyssa Healy was also seen cheering for her husband during the matches. Healy, also the captain of the Australia women’s team, was first spotted in KKR’s match against Hardik Pandya’s MI at the Wankhede Stadium. Since then, Starc hasn’t looked back. Starc said that Healy’s presence boosted his confidence.

“Everything’s been better since Alyssa has turned up,” Starc told Star Sports.

Starc’s very best in the IPL

In the playoffs and final, Starc showed why he is deemed as one of the best in the world. In the Qualifier 1 against SRH at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, Starc won the Player of the Match award after the Knight Riders won by 8 wickets. Starc bowled Travis Head with a peach and finished with impressive figures of 4-0-34-3.
