Team India and USA are currently playing against each other in the 25th game of the ongoing ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024. The game is a historic one as it is the first-ever international game between the two teams across any format.
Rohit Sharma won the toss and opted to bowl first at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York. Arshdeep Singh justified the decision in the very first over by taking two wickets. On the very first ball of the match, the left-arm pacer dismissed Shayan Jahangir for a duck to give India a solid start. On the final ball of the same over, he dismissed Andries Gous as well to leave the USA reeling at 3 for 2.
While India made a strong start with the ball against the USA, they were fortunate to avoid a nasty injury in the very first over. Captain Rohit Sharma and his deputy Hardik Pandya nearly collided into each other while going for Gous’ catch on the final ball of the over.
It was a short delivery from Arshdeep Singh and Gous went for a pull shot. However, he was cramped for room and ended up miscuing the pull shot over the bowler’s head. Both Hardik and Rohit ran for the catch and were agonizingly close to colliding but fortunately managed to avoid it. Hardik also completed an easy catch to give India the second breakthrough. India captain reacted with a smile and a thumbs up after Hardik Pandya took the catch.

Talking about the game, USA were on 42 for 3 after 10 overs at the time of writing this report. After Arshdeep Singh’s twin strikes in the first over, Hardik Pandya dismissed USA captain Aaron Jones for 11 to put India in the driver’s seat.
The winner of the ongoing game will become the first team to qualify for the Super 8s stage from Group A. Both India and USA have won their first two games and need just one more point to make it to the next stage.
