Following a harrowing incident in December 2022, Rishabh Pant, captain of the Delhi Capitals (DC), embarked on a remarkable journey back to the cricket pitch after enduring a gruelling 14-month recovery period. Battling back from the brink of tragedy, the left-handed batter expressed profound appreciation for the gift of life itself and relished the opportunity for a triumphant return to the game he holds dear.

In the wake of a devastating road mishap, Pant faced a myriad of injuries and an uncertain future in the sport he is deeply passionate about. Overcoming immense challenges, his path to redemption was paved with arduous rehabilitation sessions at the esteemed National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru.

Rishabh Pant expressed his pain

In Shikhar Dhawan‘s new program, Pant opened up about his ordeal, detailing the hardships he faced after the accident. He shared his emotional turmoil, recounting how he could not ascertain whether he was still alive post-accident but credited divine grace for his survival. He also mentioned struggling with basic tasks like brushing for nearly two months.

“When I got up after it, I wasn’t even sure if I would be alive, but God was very kind to save me. I couldn’t even brush my teeth for two months, and for six to seven months, I suffered from unbearable pain. I couldn’t go to the airport because I was nervous about facing people in a wheelchair,” Pant said on Dhawan Karenge.
